Lavender uses
You may not have tried yet . . .
Put a small muslin bag of lavender in the dryer
with your sheets or towels
¼ C of lavender in the vacuum cleaner bag
will freshen the air as you vacuum, and keep
the bag from becoming musty
Keep lavender in a decorative bowl in the
bedroom and briefly toss the buds before
retiring to reduce stress and insomnia
For savory dishes try substituting lavender in
any recipe calling for rosemary
For sweet recipes that call for milk or cream,
infuse the milk with culinary lavender
. . . Infuse your life with herbs!

Lavender Shortbread Cookies
makes about 3 dozen cookies
4tsp fresh or 2 tsp dried lavender buds
½ C sugar
8 oz. butter
2 C all-purpose flour
¼ tsp salt
1. Whirl sugar and lavender in a blender until fine.
2. In an electric mixer, cream together butter and lavender sugar until smooth.
3. Add the flour and salt and mix on low just until the dough comes together.
4. On a floured surface, roll the dough out to ¼” thick,
dusting with more flour as necessary.
5. Cut into desired shapes.
6. Spacing ½” apart, transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment.
7. Chill 30 minutes.
8. Bake at 300 degrees for about 25 minutes, or until golden, do not
brown.
9. Cool completely in the pan.
10. Sprinkle with additional lavender sugar if desired.
